Dress Hire
Hire period

A standard hire is six days. It starts on the day the dress is posted to you or collected from the studio, and it ends when the dress goes back to An Post on day six. If day six falls on a Sunday or a bank holiday, post it the next working day.

The six days are built to give me enough time to have the dress cleaned and ready for the next woman, which is why the return date matters more than it might look.

Getting the dress to you

Dresses are posted by express registered An Post and I aim to have yours with you at least the day before your event, earlier where I can. You will get a tracking number.

Please check your address, Eircode and mobile number carefully when you book. An Post cannot deliver without them and I cannot fix a wrong address once the parcel is gone.

Collection from the studio in Drumconrath is available by appointment if it suits you better, and return drop off can be arranged the same way.

Sending it back

There is a prepaid An Post return label in your box with the return address already on it, so there is nothing for you to look up or write out. Put the dress back in its original packaging, or something equivalent if the original has not survived, and hand it in at your local An Post office on day six.

Please take a photo of the postal receipt and keep it. It is your proof the dress was sent and it has settled more than one question over the years.

If you lose the prepaid label, you will need to pay for registered An Post postage yourself. Let me know and send me the tracking number.

Looking after the dress

From the moment it reaches you until it is back with An Post, the dress is in your care. In practice that means:

  • No alterations of any kind. No hemming, pinning, taping or stitching, even temporarily.
  • Please do not try to clean a mark yourself. Home remedies do far more damage than the original stain and I would much rather deal with it here.
  • Be careful with fake tan. It is the single most common cause of damage to hire dresses and it does not always come out.
  • No smoking in the dress, and please keep perfume and hairspray away from the fabric.

Normal wear is expected and is not something you will be charged for. A loose thread, a lost hook and eye, a light mark that cleans out: that is what the cleaning fee in your hire price is for. Please do not spend your evening worrying about the dress.

If something is wrong when it arrives

Tell me on the day it arrives, before you wear it, and you will not be charged for anything you report. Once a dress has been worn there is no way for either of us to tell when a mark happened, which is the only reason the timing matters.

If the dress does not fit

Sizing can vary considerably between dresses, so fit cannot be guaranteed from the size label alone. This is why I ask for your height, usual size and any relevant fit information before the dress is sent.

If you have provided this information and I have advised you on the fit, please contact me on the day the dress arrives if it does not suit. The dress must be returned promptly, unworn and with all tags attached. Where there is time and another suitable dress is available, I will offer an alternative. Where this is not possible, I will issue a credit for 50 per cent of the dress hire fee, valid for twelve months.

If a dress is booked without fit advice or the requested sizing information, it will not qualify for a fit credit. Return postage is the customer’s responsibility where the correct dress and size were supplied.

This does not affect your statutory rights if a dress is faulty, materially different from its description, or the incorrect dress or size was sent.

Cancelling your booking

  • More than 21 days before your event: full refund.
  • Between 7 and 21 days: a credit for the full amount, valid twelve months.
  • Under 7 days, or once the dress has been posted: no refund or credit.
  • If your plans change, tell me as early as you can. The earlier I know, the more I can do.

Your right to cancel under consumer law

When you buy something online or over the phone you usually have fourteen days to change your mind. That right does not apply to services booked for a specific date, which includes hiring a dress for a named event, in the same way it does not apply to hiring a car or booking a hotel room for a particular night.

The cancellation terms above are what applies to your booking instead. Nothing here affects your legal rights if something is faulty or not as described.

If I have to cancel

If a dress becomes unavailable, through damage from a previous hire or anything else, I will contact you straight away, offer you an alternative, and refund you in full if nothing suits. You can take a credit instead if you would prefer, but that is your choice and never something I will impose.

Late returns

If the dress is not posted back on day six, there is a late fee of €20 for each day it is outstanding, up to a maximum of the cost of replacing the dress. That fee covers the hire income lost while the dress is with you rather than with the next woman who booked it.

If I need the dress urgently for another booking, I will be in touch.

If a dress has not been returned after ten days, I will treat it as not returned and invoice you for the cost of replacing it, plus late fees to that date, with the evidence attached. That invoice is payable within fourteen days. The hire fee you paid is not deducted from it.

Damage

Your hire price includes dry cleaning before and after, so ordinary marks are already covered and you will not hear from me about them.

If a dress comes back heavily soiled and needs specialist cleaning beyond the usual, there is a charge of €20. I will tell you before anything is charged and send you a photograph of what I found.

If a dress is damaged and can be repaired, the charge is the cost of the repair. If it cannot be repaired, the charge is the cost of replacing it. Either way you will see the evidence and the actual cost, not an estimate.

What I am responsible for

If your dress does not arrive, or arrives after your event, I will refund your hire fee in full.

Beyond that refund, I am not responsible for other costs that follow on, such as a replacement outfit, travel or accommodation, or the cost of the event itself. My total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid for the hire.

Nothing in these terms limits my responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing in them takes away your rights under Irish consumer law.

Things outside either of our control

If a postal strike, extreme weather, illness or anything similar stops a dress reaching you, I will contact you as soon as I know and refund you in full. I will not be responsible for costs beyond that refund.

Photographs

I sometimes share customer photographs on Instagram and on the website, and it is always with permission asked for first. If you have said yes and change your mind later, message me and I will take it down.

Your information

To style you properly I need details like your size, your height and your event. How that information is stored, how long it is kept and what your rights over it are is all set out in our privacy policy.

If something goes wrong

Email me first at info@enviousdresshire.com and I will do my best to sort it out.

Ordering the Envi Band

Placing an order is an offer to buy. Your order is accepted, and a contract exists between us, when we email you to confirm it has been dispatched. If we cannot fulfil an order, we will tell you and refund you in full.

Prices are in euro and include VAT where it applies. Delivery is added at checkout and the amount is shown before you pay.

The size guide on the product page is guidance rather than a guarantee of fit. If it is not right, our returns policy covers sending it back.

If a price is obviously wrong

Occasionally something is listed at the wrong price. Where the error is obvious and you could reasonably have spotted it, we are not obliged to supply at that price. We will contact you, and you can either confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

Photographs and descriptions

We photograph everything ourselves and describe it as accurately as we can. Colours can look different from one screen to the next, so please treat images as a close guide rather than an exact match. If anything arrives and is not as described, tell us and we will put it right.

Our photographs and writing

The photographs, product descriptions, styling guidance and other content on this site belong to Envious Styling. You are very welcome to share them on social media with credit. Copying them for use in another business, whether that is a listing, a website or an advertisement, is not permitted without our written agreement.

Using the site

Please use the site for its intended purpose. Do not attempt to interfere with it, extract its content in bulk, or place orders you do not intend to complete.

We aim to keep the site available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will never be down or that every detail will always be current.

Links to other sites

Some links take you elsewhere, including to our own pages on other platforms and to social media. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content.

What we are responsible for

If something goes wrong with an order, our responsibility is limited to the value of that order. We are not responsible for costs that follow on from it, such as travel, an event, or a replacement bought elsewhere.

Nothing here limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here takes away your rights under Irish consumer law.

Your information

How we handle your information is set out in our privacy policy.

If something goes wrong

Email us at info@enviousdresshire.com and we will do our best to sort it out. If we cannot resolve it between us, you can contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission for advice, or bring a claim through the Small Claims procedure in the District Court.

These terms

The terms that apply are the ones on this page on the day you order. If we update them, the change applies to future orders only.
